Accu-Wedge: The Key to Eliminating AR-15 Upper and Lower Receiver Play
Does your AR-15 feel like it’s "wobbling" in your hands? That annoying play between the upper and lower receiver is driving you crazy and triggering your OCD. Our orange Accu-Wedge is a simple yet fully functional solution. Just like the original Accu-Wedge, we didn’t try to improve it... because there was nothing to improve.
1) Purpose
The primary purpose of the Accu-Wedge is the instant elimination of play between the upper and lower receivers. This small insert, made of a durable elastomer, ensures that both parts of the firearm fit together tightly without the slightest movement. The result is:
- Elimination of play between the upper and lower receivers
- Removal of annoying rattle and noise during firearm manipulation
- Satisfaction for your OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder—because things just have to be perfect, or else...)
2) Why It Works
- The Accu-Wedge works on the principle of elastic pressure. Once inserted into the rear of the lower receiver (behind the trigger assembly), the insert creates permanent slight upward pressure against the upper receiver.
- Simple Installation: Just open the firearm, drop the Accu-Wedge into place, and close it back up. No tools or permanent modifications are required.
- Material Memory: The orange material used is designed to resist oils and high pressure while maintaining its elasticity and shape over a long period.
- Versatility: Fits most standard AR-15 platform rifles—and honestly, the bigger the piece of junk you have, the more you need it.
3) Why Other Methods Are Worse
- There are other ways to eliminate play, but the Accu-Wedge beats them in both practicality and safety:
- O-rings on pins: They often snap, make disassembly difficult, and look ugly (protruding outwards).
- Shims: These are tiny, easily lost during cleaning, and can cause uneven tension in the receiver material.
- Tensioning screws in the frame: These require drilling or specific lower modifications, which can weaken the structure or void your warranty. They are usually small, and the compressed tip wears out quickly. It works at the point of sale and for the first few sessions, but after that, it's just a placebo...
Accu-Wedge is an elegant "drop-in" solution—no damage, no modifications, just install it and the wobble is gone.

AlwaysSecond comment: I gained the firearm passport in 2002 and started with shooting. And in 2008 started with trading of firearms and ammunition and shooting accessories. Since then I am purchasing, importing, selling, distributing, but mainly "using and cleaning". Since my earlies there has been numerous firearms and products going through my hands, and I had the chance to use them thoroughly. So I can quite quickly differentiate when somebody feeds me with marketing bullshits. I am capable to test the products myself and differentiate the reality from marketing. I am not relying on ANYBODYs reviews and do believe only in what I can test myself. I am no World Champion, but been 14 times Vicechampion of Czech Republic and about 13 times Second Vicechampion (well ... unlucky ... others have earned the golden ones. I am OK with it. But I have earned the nickname of "Mr.AlwaysSecond"). But: I have made enough shots in my career, to be capable recognize what works and what not. This helps me to choose the products for my shooting and also for my business. And this knowledge I will gladly share with you, whether you are one-horse-town champion, or real champion, or businessman, or somebody other from firearms industry.
Businesswise I do choose products that I like to use and I know why I do so. A these I would like to offer also to you. With most of them I do have extensive experiences to share. And I will be happy if I could help you with goods, or a good advice, or redirecting you. I am looking forward to meeting you
